Higher diesel prices forecast in 2010

Diesel fuel will average $2.79 in the fourth quarter and rise to about $3 a gallon next year, the Department of Energy said Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Compared with this year’s national average price of diesel of $2.48 a gallon, the price for 2010 is projected at $2.94, DOE said in its monthly short-term energy outlook. That compares with a 2010 forecast of $2.78 made in October.

In the week ended Nov. 9, the average national diesel price was $2.801.
