TransCore adds modules to logistics package

By CCJ Staff

TransCore’s Logistics Software, a transportation management system (TMS), announced the addition of three modules to help freight brokers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) take tighter control of operations.

  • The Carrier Pay Rate Calculator is a negotiating tool designed to put the broker in control when selecting a carrier. Whether a carrier bills at a flat rate, per mile, hundred weight (CWT), ton, piece or percentage of cost, the Carrier Pay Rate Calculator analyzes the carrier’s bid (including accessorial charges) and the shipper’s rate, and calculates the profitability of the load. With a user interface, the broker can negotiate with his carrier and decide on a final rate within seconds;

  • The Dispatch Control Screen provides a single screen containing carrier history, lane rates, customer credit status and other useful information. At a glance, freight brokers and 3PLs have full visibility to match loads and move freight; and

  • Using a single-touch interface with Microsoft Excel as well as ready-made templates, Report Writer takes standard reports and turns them into intuitive, visual information on Days-Sales-Outstanding (DSO) and other critical customer and carrier trends. The customers’ charts, reports and bar graphs are updated in real time with information taken from Logistics Software.

    “We’ve provided brokers and 3PLs productivity tools that take additional advantage of our single-entry system that covers operations and accounting,” says Steve Blair, general manager of TransCore Transportation Management for the Portland, Ore.-based company. “Regardless of who enters the data, that single entry is leveraged into useful information by dispatchers, finance and management alike. Not only does this cut down on human error, it also expedites the profitable movement of freight while lowering overhead."
