Cascade Sierra opens Seattle branch

By eTrucker Staff

Cascade Sierra Solutions, a non-profit organization involved in matching owner-operators and trucking companies with clean diesel technologies, is celebrating the opening of its outreach center in Seattle with a program and open house on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Appearing during the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event will be guest speakers, equipment and truck displays, and presentations covering air quality regulations, SmartWay equipment strategies and financing.

The Seattle Green Truck Center, located at 200 SW Michigan St. Suite 103, will focus on upgrading Puget Sound port trucks and working with trucking companies in Washington State.

The center features a clean diesel technology showroom offering new and late model truck fuel efficient equipment options and will act as a clearing house for trucking businesses when upgrading their fleet of trucks.

"Over a two-year period we have seen a 30 percent default rate in the trucking industry nationwide," said Bill Harris, CSS chief of operations. "Those who have made the investment in fuel-efficient green equipment are the ones staying in business, and we are seeing those companies grow in a down economy"

"What they (CSS) offer is more and more important," said Bill Gulick, Vancouver, Wash., driver. "If you don't deal with fuel efficiency, it's a problem. Either you change or you're not going to make it."

The Coburg, Ore.-based group has additional outreach centers in Sacramento, Calif., and Portland, Ore.
