Today's webinar: Driver retention

By eTrucker Staff

Given today’s slow freight and falling driver turnover rates, there has never been a better time to evaluate your owner-operator program. When freight picks up – as it inevitably will – carriers who plan now for the good times will be well positioned to retain the best owner-operators and to recruit additional capacity.

The Partners in Business Retention Forum offers a series of webinars designed to help fleets learn proven ways to help their owner-operators achieve business success. The series is sponsored by Overdrive magazine and TruckersEdge powered by Transcore DAT. For more information, go to www.piblive.com/retentionforum/. Upcoming events include:

  • Retention During a Rebound, Oct. 22, 2 p.m. CT: Consultant Steve Prelipp's webinar will cover some of the key areas that are most influential in retaining owner-operators, particularly as the economy recovers and driver turnover returns to high levels. Prelipp's 28 years of management experience include serving in recruitment/retention positions at Schneider National and as president of Cardinal Freight Carriers and vice president of driver development at Heartland Express. An expert in recruiting software systems, he developed two systems that are used nationally.

  • Owner-Operator Compensation Trends, Nov. 5, 2 p.m. CT: Are you keeping up with your competitors? Since 1995, the National Transportation Institute (formerly SignPost) has provided truckload carriers with detailed pay profiles to answer that question. NTI head Gordon Klemp will present third-quarter data just in from more than 350 key carriers.
