Diesel again drops in price
By Steven Mackay
The national average price for a gallon of diesel continued its decline for the week ending Sept. 11. Truckers paid $2.857 per gallon, 11 cents less than the week before, the U.S. Department of Energy reported.
The price was roughly 1 cent more than the same week last year -- a modest increase compared to recent weeks where the year-over-year difference hovered at 70 cents.
All U.S. regions enjoyed decreases from the previous week. The Midwest led the pack with a roughly 15-cent drop to $2.787 per gallon. Gulf Coast drivers are paying $2.770
Not every region is seeing drops below $3.
The West Coast saw the slightest decrease, a .062-cent drop from last week to $3.313 per gallon.
Rocky Mountain region drivers are paying the most in the United States -- $3.236 per gallon.
