  FMCSA offers new registration website
By Jill Dunn

Truckers may file for new U.S. DOT numbers or operating authority, or update existing registrations, at one website now.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has combined two of its websites for customer convenience. New features allow users to:

  • Request hazmat safety permits.
  • Request copies of safety rating request letters or U.S. DOT notification letters.
  • Receive a registration tracking number and personal identifier so that operating authority transactions need not be completed in a single session.
  • Make payments on civil fines.

To access the new, streamlined website, visit http://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov and click on “FMCSA Registration & Updates.”
