The Dickies’ 2005 Maryland Worker of the Year is owner-operator John Ruthvin, of Frederick.

His son Christopher nominated him by writing an essay.

Ruthvin has run BR&B Enterprises with his father-in-law for the past 20 years.

One national and 50 state workers of the year were selected from thousands of entries, submitted by appreciative spouses, parents, co-workers, friends, kids and bosses, who were given 100 words to explain why their nominee deserves special recognition.

The 50 State Workers of the Year each received more than $500 in cash and prizes.

The National 2005 American Worker of the Year is Tim Carroll, of Bartlett, Tenn.
